We had a great Thanksgiving weekend. How the time flew by. It was great to see a lot of friends and family and catch up on the happenings. We had 25 people at my mother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. Needless to say, it was a crowded house. Scott had to work the day shift, so we did not eat until 6:00pm. It was such a nice day, we went for a horse ride, played cards (I won or course), and did a little cooking.
On Wednesday we made 56 caramel apples. It has become a tradition to use my Grandma Small's recipe once a year around Halloween. Of course, we were a little late at getting them made this year, but at least we did it. By the time the caramel was made all of our arms were sore. You have to stir the caramel for two hours, but it is sooOOO worth it!!!
My children had a great time playing with all the kids that were there to visit throughout the weekend. Tayson loved hanging out with the "stinky" boys. It was too funny. He did not want to go with me to Montpelier and said he wanted to stay with the stinky boys, referring to Riley and Michael Herzog. Jace loved all of the treats. Every time I turned around he was eating off of somebody's plate or talking someone into getting him some food. He eats more than TyLene and Tayson combined.
Friday brought a fun day of shopping. Yes, I braved the busy crowds and went shopping. Scott and I had a great time watching all of the crazy people and finding a few good buys. We mostly enjoyed going in and out of several stores and not worrying about buckling kids in, feeding the kids, or keeping them from shouting or running away in the store. Thank you Tanaira for watching the kids for us!!!
After returning home from the shopping trip, my father took us up in the mountains to find the perfect Christmas tree. It seems several other people have found our secret area where we go every year to find the tree. We hiked all over the mountain side and finally found one. Next year we will defiantly have to find a new place to look. TyLene is now in a panic, because we have been home for a few hours and still do not have our Christmas tree up. Her father promised her that we will start decorating tomorrow. I am so excited for the Christmas season, and also cannot wait to get my house decorated. TyLene, I am sure will be a big help. She is growing up way to fast and takes after her mother with her love for the Holidays!
